# Flitdrop

> Flitdrop is a free app that sends photos, files, folders and the clipboard between any phone and any computer over your own Wi-Fi, in one gesture. It is the cross-platform answer to AirDrop: it works between iPhone, Android and Samsung on one side and Windows, Mac and Linux on the other, in every combination. Transfers are end to end encrypted and go straight from one device to the other, never through a server. There is no account, and nothing to install on the phone.

## What Flitdrop is

- A desktop app for Windows, macOS and Linux. The phone needs nothing installed: you scan a QR code once from the phone's camera and it is paired through the browser.
- Cross-platform on purpose. AirDrop stops at Apple, Quick Share stops at Android, LocalSend needs an app on every device. Flitdrop connects all of them.
- Private by design. Every transfer is end to end encrypted (XChaCha20-Poly1305) and stays on your local network. The content touches no server, because there is no server in the middle.
- Free. Because transfers are peer to peer on your own Wi-Fi, there is no server cost, so there is nothing to pay and no size or count limit beyond the free space on the receiving device.
